Perinatal Psychology and Support

With a young family herself, Vicki is passionate about supporting families through the challenges of conception, pregnancy, postnatal periods, parental adjustment, and parenting transitioning through stages of a child’s development.

Perinatal refers to the period of life spanning pregnancy (and pre-pregnancy planning), across birth experiences, and into the postnatal, following the life of a baby and their parents up to three years.

This phase of life is known to be foundational in the lives of families, with support for perinatal mental health critical to support mothers and families. It is also a time when a woman is most vulnerable to experience a mental health condition. It is a time of unforeseen growth and adaption for new parents, and in many cases, within an environment of decreased supports and increased stress.

This includes:

  • Pregnancy
  • Perinatal grief and loss
  • Antenatal depression and anxiety
  • Birth trauma
  • Premature Birth
  • Postnatal depression and anxiety
  • Bonding and attachment
  • Adjustment issues
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • OCD
  • Managing Relationships
  • Body image and perfectionism
  • Infants
  • Toddlers
  • Parenting
