ADHD Testing (Assessment)

At Hively Health, we understand that taking the first step toward understanding ADHD can feel daunting. Many people begin by looking for an “ADHD test,” hoping for quick answers. In practice, ADHD testing refers to a comprehensive assessment that explores how attention, focus, and executive functioning affect everyday life.

Our Clinic

Our experienced psychologists provide neuro-affirming ADHD testing for children, teens, and adults in a calm, supportive environment. At our clinic, each assessment is conducted with care and precision, combining clinical expertise with practical guidance. You’ll receive clear insights into strengths and challenges, a detailed written report, and thoughtful recommendations to support learning, relationships, and wellbeing at home, school, or work.

What's “ADHD Testing”?

Many people reach a point of frustration, and with a desire for change, search for an 'ADHD Test' to find answers immediately.

While online quizzes can be useful starting points for self-reflection, ADHD cannot be diagnosed through a short test or checklist. It requires a detailed clinical assessment that explores history, environment, and functioning across settings such as school, work, or home.

A professional ADHD assessment provides a complete picture, ensuring your results are accurate and interpreted by a qualified clinician who can explain what they mean and what to do next. Learn more about our ADHD Assessments.

Our ADHD Testing & Assessment Process: Step by Step

At Hively Health, our team takes the time to make each ADHD test and assessment clear, collaborative, and supportive, ensuring you feel informed and comfortable throughout the process.

1. Intake Session

A detailed discussion about developmental history, current concerns, and goals. This session helps your clinician tailor assessment tools to your needs.

2. Assessment Session

Structured diagnostic interview and completion of validated questionnaires in a calm, supportive environment.

3. Scoring & Interpretation

Your psychologist reviews and interprets all results, integrating questionnaire data, interviews, and observations to form a holistic clinical understanding.

4. Comprehensive Report Preparation

You’ll receive a written report outlining results, a recommended diagnosis (if applicable), and personalised strategies to support you moving forward.

5. Feedback Session

Discussion of reports, and outline practical next steps. You’ll have space to ask questions and leave with clarity and confidence about what comes next.

For clients under 18, reports are reviewed and confirmed by a paediatrician or child psychiatrist. For adults, formal diagnosis is completed by a psychiatrist.

A Neuro-Affirming Approach

Our clinicians recognise that ADHD is a form of neurodiversity that brings unique strengths as well as challenges. A neuro-affirming approach means:

  • Viewing ADHD through a lens of difference, not deficit
  • Recognising creativity, adaptability, and hyper-focus as valuable traits
  • Helping clients replace self-criticism with self-understanding
  • Providing practical tools for focus, regulation, and wellbeing

Our goal is not just diagnosis, it’s to help you feel seen, understood, and supported.
