Accessing our Services

We accept all private clients for in-clinic therapy, telehealth and assessments. You do not require a referral to attend an appointment with us. Many people decide to see a psychologist without consulting a GP or other health professional.

Referral from Medical Professionals

If you wish to claim a rebate through Medicare, you will require a referral from your GP or Psychiatrist (Mental Health Care Plan). A Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) is something that your doctor puts in place for you if you meet criteria for a mental illness. With the plan in place, you will have access to a Medicare rebate for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.

In order to obtain a Mental Health Care Plan, you will need to book a long appointment with your GP and discuss how you have been feeling. Your GP will talk you through a list of questions and prepare the paperwork for you. You need to bring this paperwork along to your first appointment. You will also need to ensure that your bank account details are registered with Medicare so they can refund you the rebate, following payment in full for your appointment.

Fees and Cancellations

Cancellation Policy

We require 2 business days notice prior to your appointment to cancel or reschedule. If you do not show up to an appointment or fail to let us know within our cancellation policy timeframe, a cancellation fee will apply (100% of the appointment fee).

Each session you book with us is therapy time reserved in your psychologists day to provide care to you. We ask that you respect your psychologists time and understand that the more notice you can give the easier it will be for us to offer the appointment to someone else in need of therapeutic care.

Fees

The APS National Schedule of Recommended Fees has the standard 45 to 60-minute consultation fee at $300. Our standard session fees are significantly less than this, at the rate of $215 per standard session. You will need to pay in full for your appointment with us, with rebates refunded through your private health insurer or Medicare (where applicable).

Medicare Rebate

If you have a valid Mental Health Care Plan, you may be eligible for a rebate from Medicare for up to $93.65 per session, for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.

Private Health

You may be able to claim some of the fees back through your Private Health Fund. At the conclusion of each session, you may request an invoice that provides the details required for you to organise rebates with your insurance provider. Please contact your private health insurer for rebate information.

Please note: you are not able to claim from Medicare and your private health fund for the same consultation.
