Referral from Medical Professionals

If you wish to claim a rebate through Medicare, you will require a referral from your GP or Psychiatrist. If you have a valid Medicare Care Plan, you may be eligible for a rebate from Medicare for up to $93.65 per session for a specific number of sessions as follows:

  • Mental Health Care Plan – up to 10 sessions per calendar year
  • Eating Disorder Treatment and Management Plan – up to 40 sessions per calendar year
  • Chronic Disease Management Plan – up to 5 sessions per calendar year

In order to obtain a Care Plan, you will need to book a long appointment with your GP and discuss how you have been feeling. Your GP will talk you through a list of questions and prepare the paperwork for you. You need to bring this paperwork along to your first appointment.
